Fluoropolymer Coatings

Fluoropolymer coatings are blends of high performance resins and fluoropolymer lubricants. Fluoropolymer coatings are excellent for reduced friction, non stick, non wetting, electrical resistance and abrasion resistance. Many Fluoropolymers are single coat thin films that provide excellent corrosion and chemical resistance. Other “Teflon” coating can be applied at much higher film thicknesses that increase abrasion protection while still retaining its non-stick properties.

Further, AST is a leader in Flouropolymer coating. Because flouroplymer coatings such Kynar, Halar, and Teflon’s are needed to protect metals in severely corrosive environments, special skill and experience is needed by the applicator. That is why more people turn to AST/Acme for these types of high back coatings. Both liquid and powder versions of these coatings are applied at our facility. Before either are applied, we undergo a complete metal preparation process.  This involves careful evaluation of welds and elimination of weld slag and other imperfections; particularly for immersion tank.
