A crystalline conversion coating Phosphate forms on ferrous metal substrates. This coating is employed to increase corrosion protection, and used for the purpose of pretreatment prior to painting. Phosphate improves friction properties for moving parts and is applied to threaded parts and top coated with oil to add anti-galling and rust inhibiting characteristics.
